in fleeting moments
beyond stretch
and roadmaps
I reach to name things not fully known
precise argument reasons right, from forthright,
left, from wrong,
proving points. measured. perfect.
comes at the price of the song
the knowledge of the parts is static, micro,
unlike the wisdom of the panoramic whole.
unknowable, unownable,
wild things that evade control
we're resurrecting deity now,
intuitive mind is gift,
imagination is rebel, is revolution,
gathering pilgrims as she goes
This post was in part inspired by a talk shared by Edgar Ballantine on Albert Einstein's; The Divided Brain. A summary of the talk is in the whiteboard animated short below.
So many moments of inspiration this week. Like waves and ripples they osmose into the things I think and write on. Thanks Ty Tidwell for this powerful piece I read yesterday 'The Pen is Mightier than the Sword' (subtitle : the power of the written word). I believe this passionately, and feel this a watershed time for intuitive bridges of thought. Also, this beautifully written, expansive post which I really connected with on Intimacy, by Jennae Smith. There was also this lovely piece by Tara Connor 'Evergreen' beautifully set up with an intro and context in a way I've not yet tried, but hopefully might. This beautiful poem 'Unseasonably' (subtitle : I looked for you in the blur) by Joseph Massey, reminiscent of Gerard Manley Hopkins, perhaps. This confronting line from Ando's 'Poet's of Life' 'a poet doesn't own her words'... 'like a leaf they fall from the tree, blow on the breeze'. I can relate to all of this. One of my favourite experiences is combining words and music together, and so I enjoyed this mesmeric original melody and rather humorous post from David Donoghue - Poetry and Music: Making Music Still who admits 'there is no choice in the matter' in his surrender to the making of music. Finally, I was inspired by Duane Toops in his piece on Joy, Wonder, Mystery , three of my favourite words, as it happens. In particular, I was taken with that space between expectation and reality, anticipation and memory. So much in this wise and punchy post, enhanced by Duane's colourful and creative art. Thanks for reading, hope you enjoy the writing today and the inspiration which are part of the waves ebbing to flow out. Below is the Spotify link with melodies and beats to accompany the words (so far)
Mary Oliver to finish out
Here's some interesting thoughts from Maya C Popa on 'wonder'. Threads of similar lines I sense...

“Comes at the price of the song” - such a poignant way to put it, something I think about sometimes just after an argument when I was “right.”
