Oh wow Mike, what a wonderful comment to read!

Just to say, "I'm wasting lots of time these days to allow..." is enough to know I want to subscribe! I have all my life aspired to find that secret place, that secret power, that would grant me permission to "waste" time, just allowing what is to be. To watch it all with no craving or anxious self-pressure telling me I've got to get moving, to get something done, to make something of myself, to prove myself.

I know that this secret place and power is mine to grant, that nobody is stopping me. But man, conditioning is deep!

I loved your poem, the ocean film, and I'm about to check out your playlist. Thank you!

Oh, and I almost forgot—thanks for the link and I'm thrilled that my essay inspired you! 🙏💚

Hey Don, that's lovely part to pick out. It's certainly how it is.

All the way from Europe to America!!

I just read your essay, Don. Bloody brilliant, and I thank you! I know you didn’t write it today, but it appears that I am running into this theme of “death” (maybe more exploring our life’s worth and meaning, perhaps) today on Substack. It’s really weird how this happens.

Thank you! I publish each week, and each of my essays generate so much conversation that I tend to forget what my previous essay was about lol. I guess they’re probably all ultimately about death ha ha.

I really appreciate you reading it and I look forward to seeing what you be coming out with next!

Thank you Don...In do have some more originals on the way. I am sorry I miss your essays (I'll try to do better) but I have to limit my time on line for my sanity. Until. I get my ticker fixed I have limited "productive" hours each day, and the Doc says it's really important to step up my exercise until I get my procedure. Bear with me, my friend.

I feel warmer reading this :)

So gorgeous. I feel totally carried away each time I read this, and then there's this concrete, very familiar feeling with these lines:

"I do not feel this knotted,

folded, slid under a door,

trying to get to the other side"

The Sea in Me's avatar

That's lovely to hear Margaret, carried away is beautiful. Thanks for seeing the difficult part too. 'All parts' this humaning. It keeps rolling.

A stunning poem. I could both feel inside your soul and hear the ocean—and wiggle the sand between my toes… I so enjoyed this!

The Sea in Me's avatar

Thanks Sea, think it was John O'Donoghue who said the language of poetry is a threshold to the soul. (I believe him.)

You’re welcome, I believe it’s true as well!

Great poem! And thanks too for sharing the T Swift video. I love that song, my girls have played it many times, but hadn’t seen the video. Amazing!

I hear the thrashing and tumbling and inter-becoming of you and sea 🌀

The Sea in Me's avatar

That's a lovely line. And inter-becoming. What a lovely concept, Amanda.

Hope book is coming along well!

The book is unfolding at pace now. It’s such a beautiful process. Thanks for asking 💙

This is such powerful writing. I can sense the space in your life filling the words with so much weight. And space and time in each of those waves coming in.

The Sea in Me's avatar

Thanks for this comment David, opens me up to it again. I love these reflections back.

"to alight as auras; fluorescent and on fire,

turquoise, then orange,

the iridescent colours we make, by talking"

Feel like the illumination of our own power and passion. Really beautiful.

‘of our own power and passion’ - Love this Sarah.
